Health & Guarantees

What health guarantees do you provide?

We provide a comprehensive 2-year health guarantee against genetic and hereditary conditions. This guarantee covers conditions that significantly impact the puppy's quality of life. All our puppies come with a written health guarantee document that outlines the specific terms and coverage. We stand behind our breeding program and are committed to producing healthy puppies.

What vaccinations do the puppies receive?

Our puppies receive age-appropriate vaccinations administered by licensed veterinarians:

  • DHPP (Distemper, Hepatitis, Parainfluenza, Parvovirus) - First round at 6-8 weeks
  • Bordetella (Kennel Cough) - As recommended by our veterinarian
  • Rabies - When age-appropriate (typically 12-16 weeks)
  • Regular deworming protocol from 2 weeks of age

You'll receive a complete vaccination record with your puppy.

What health testing do you perform on breeding dogs?

All our breeding dogs undergo comprehensive health testing including:

  • Annual eye examinations by board-certified veterinary ophthalmologists
  • Cardiac evaluations to screen for heart conditions
  • Genetic DNA testing for breed-specific conditions like Progressive Retinal Atrophy (PRA) and von Willebrand's Disease
  • Hip and patella evaluations for orthopedic health
  • Complete blood work and thyroid testing

We are transparent about all health testing results and share them with potential puppy parents.

Adoption Process

What are the adoption requirements?

We have a thorough screening process to ensure our puppies go to loving, committed homes:

  • Completed adoption application with detailed information
  • Veterinary reference from current or previous veterinarian
  • Consultation call or video interview
  • Demonstration of appropriate home environment for a puppy
  • Ability to provide adequate time, attention, and financial care
  • Signed adoption agreement

We reserve the right to decline any application that doesn't meet our standards for puppy welfare.

How do deposits and reservations work?

Our reservation process is straightforward:

  • A non-refundable deposit is required to reserve a specific puppy
  • The deposit is applied toward the total purchase price
  • Deposits are transferable to another available puppy if circumstances change
  • Puppies are held with a deposit until they are ready to go home (typically 8-12 weeks)
  • The remaining balance is due at or before pickup

We accept deposits only after the consultation process and mutual agreement that a puppy is the right match.

Do you ship puppies or offer delivery?

We strongly prefer and prioritize local pickup so families can meet us and see where their puppy was raised. However, we understand that the perfect family may not be local:

  • Local pickup is always preferred and encouraged
  • For families at a distance, we can discuss delivery options on a case-by-case basis
  • We do not ship puppies as cargo - any delivery arrangements involve personal transport
  • Delivery costs and arrangements are discussed during the consultation process

The well-being of our puppies is our top priority in any transport arrangement.

At what age can I take my puppy home?

Our puppies go to their forever homes between 8 and 12 weeks of age. This timeline ensures:

  • Adequate time with mother and littermates for proper social development
  • Completion of initial vaccination protocols
  • Sufficient weaning and independence
  • Completion of our Puppy Culture socialization program
  • Veterinary health certification before going home

The exact timing depends on the individual puppy's development and readiness.

Are your puppies registered with AKC?

Yes, all our puppies are registered with the American Kennel Club (AKC). We offer two registration options:

  • Limited Registration: For companion pets. The puppy is AKC registered but not for breeding purposes. This is our standard registration.
  • Full Registration: Available for approved breeding/show homes. This requires additional screening and comes at a different price point.

You'll receive the AKC registration paperwork with your puppy.

Puppy Care

What food do you recommend for Miniature Schnauzers?

We feed our dogs and puppies a premium, high-quality diet and recommend the following:

  • High-quality kibble formulated for small breeds
  • Grain-inclusive or grain-free options depending on individual needs
  • Brands we trust: Royal Canin, Hill's Science Diet, Purina Pro Plan
  • Fresh water always available
  • Avoid table scraps and foods toxic to dogs

You'll receive a starter supply of the food your puppy is currently eating, along with detailed feeding instructions.

What grooming do Miniature Schnauzers require?

Miniature Schnauzers have a wiry double coat that requires regular grooming:

  • Brushing 2-3 times per week to prevent matting
  • Professional grooming every 6-8 weeks (clipping or hand-stripping)
  • Regular ear cleaning to prevent infections
  • Nail trimming every 2-3 weeks
  • Dental care including regular tooth brushing
  • Eye care - keeping the facial hair trimmed around eyes

We provide grooming guidance and can recommend professional groomers familiar with the breed.
